Liferaft helps to ease the administrative burden that comes with managing complex medical conditions.

The online solution brings together health, medical, emotional and social care information in a secure online platform, so that up to date information is available to everyone in the care circle. Liferaft supports both the person being cared for and, crucially, the carer, by providing a single source of information on the needs, preferences and goals of individuals.

Kuradocs founder, Nicola Murgatroyd, wanted to develop Liferaft after caring for her daughter, who was born with spina bifida. After struggling with the volume of paperwork required to stay on top of appointments and keep everyone informed about her daughters needs, Nicola wanted to save other carers the time and pain of having to repeat information whenever new professionals are introduced to the care circle.

It can be used to record not only health and medical data, but also social, emotional and support care information and is particularly useful when arranging respite care, or completing lengthy forms.

Liferaft features include:

  • About Me – input your information including: health status and needs, care needs, daily routines and preferences, likes/dislikes and information about school and education
  • Contacts – import all your valuable contacts from your care circle, friends and family
  • Calendar – useful for staying on top of appointments and also family events that you’re looking forward to attending
  • Tracking – where everything from blood pressure to mood levels can be added and updated
  • Goals – record your achievements: this information can also be securely shared with your care circle
  • Journal – your own diary which can include pictures of activities undertaken, to share with family members and others in the care circle if you choose to do so
  • Reports – a unique feature that allows you to quickly print off, or directly and securely share information to keep carers updated on any changes in your health, such as a pressure sore that needs to be treated carefully
  • Resources – this links to a directory of other organisations that may be able to provide support or advice to you, your family and other carers
  • Events – a list of links to events that might be of interest to you

Liferaft has been designed to be a ‘living document’ that follows and supports the individual requiring care throughout his or her life. It is particularly valuable for informing professional carers about your life, personality, preferences, achievements and goals if you need respite care or are moving from home care to supported living or a care home.
