Opened in 2004, Beechwood College is a specialist day and residential service for young adults between the ages of 16 and 25 with a formal diagnosis of ASD or Asperger’s Syndrome.
Based upon the principles of TEACCH, PECS and Makaton, the College’s goal is to provide opportunities and experiences for each individual, regardless of ability, to prepare them for later life. The integrated approach to learning has qualified lecturers, residential and clinical teams partnering together so that each student’s personalised education programme is developed and reinforced consistently in a 24-hour learning environment.
The College’s aims to provide a very broad range of experiences and skills for each individual, preparing them for later life and developing their skills in their areas of interest.
It is a tribute to the hard work of our students and the efforts of the Beechwood College team that students enjoy success in a wide area of skills including achieving BTEC and ASDAN qualifications. Students also participate in Duke of Edinburgh Awards and Enterprise Projects aimed at building confidence, team working and community

The main campus is located in a village setting in Gobowen, near Oswestry with satellites in Telford, Walford, near Shrewsbury and Craven Arms in south Shropshire.
We offer day provision for students at each of our sites, with residential accommodation available at the main campus in Gobowen. Houses at Derwen are designed to reflect supported living.

Entrust Care Partnership was set up as a response to the aspirations expressed by families caring for children, young people and adults with additional needs and disabilities. Entrust works across Warwickshire, meeting the needs of those families through our Pathway To Employment initiative, short breaks, support, training, advice and brokerage.
There are approximately 1.5 million people in the UK with a learning disability and around 94% are unemployed. Entrust Care Partnership supports the Government’s aim to halve the disability employment gap and we are working towards that change via our Pathway To Employment initiative. Equality, inclusivity and employability are at the heart of all we do.
The Pathway to Employment initiative runs within our Warwickshire pop up cafes, providing our Trainees with learning disabilities the opportunity to:
● Make friends and build confidence and relationships in a supported work environment.
● Learn skills to become work ready e.g. money management, customer facing skills, baking, cooking and barista skills.
● Trainees also learn about Food Hygiene, Nutrition & Healthy Eating, Manual Handling and Resilience at Work. All in a friendly, fun, supported and nurturing environment.
● Receive support and coaching with CV’s, interviews and gaining employment.

St Catherine’s Day Service in Coleshill is a welcoming and lively place, providing stimulating activities within the centre and in the community.
Our staff aim to make every day meaningful, supporting to enjoy new experiences and achieve personal ambitions.
There are many activities to enjoy in the centre, including music sessions, arts and crafts, dance, and drama. Clients can get involved with daily life such as cooking and gardening and are encouraged to join in with our Christmas performance and other special events that take place throughout the year.
Our multi-sensory room and hydrotherapy pool provide peaceful places to relax, or to stimulate the mind, body, and senses. These areas are incredibly popular with clients who enjoy the freeing nature of the water, the ability to control their environment, and the multitude of sounds and sights.
Outside the centre, we assist people to take part in a wide range of activities, from enjoying local parks, horse riding or ice skating, to taking part in voluntary work or going to college.
With hand-on-hand support, people are empowered to accomplish as much as possible by themselves. And with sensitive care provision, each person’s dignity is our top priority.
We work closely with other specialist providers who support service users with physiotherapy, speech and language, and diet, among other things.

Hereward College is a national college for young people with disabilities and additional needs based in Coventry. It offers learners a varied curriculum that focuses on skills for independent living and employment.
The college has both day and residential provision, which caters for a whole range of needs ranging from students with autism, physical difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties and complex disabilities.
Our vision is to prepare our learners for the next stage of their lives, providing them with outstanding employability skills and greater control over their future. We have a focus on creating independent individuals who can make more of their own decisions about work education, health and living.With a person centred approach, which is destination-led, learners follow a study programme designed to meet their needs and support progression. There is a real focus on employability, and every learner has access to work experience opportunities linked to their learning. Learners also have the opportunity to take part in Hereward’s supported internship study programme with one of the college’s partner employers that enables them to gain valuable experience within a supported environment.

It’s easy to love your child but it’s not easy to break down the barriers they may face as they get older. Finding other families experiencing the same feelings, frustrations, achievements and joy as you can make parenting feel a little less isolating.
Accessing expert help
Through our annual Transition Event which has expert speakers on a wide range of topics, My Family, Our Needs has direct links to education lawyers, sleep experts, SENDCOs and housing specialists.
Our Ask the Expert section of the website allows you to email us a specific question and we will do our best to get it answered. We know big organisations can sometimes feel intimidating and people you need to speak to aren’t always easy to get hold of. We aim to bridge that gap and make it easier to get families raising a disabled child the support they really need.
As well as all the guidance you will find on the Supporting Your Child page, we also have a Supporting Yourself section of the website because parents are important too. Whilst your child is your life, we know that day-to-day living involves a lot of other things too. Your other relationships, your work life, your own health and wellbeing and trying to find that perfect pair of jeans which fit round the waist but aren’t baggy on the bum. We cover the big things, the small things and everything in between.

National Star College helps to create a brighter future for young people with complex disabilities. Whether students wish to discover more about the world around them, actively contribute to their community or gain a job or voluntary role after college, National Star is the place for them.
With campuses in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Wales students can learn on a full or part–time basis as a residential or day student, depending upon where they live.
There is no such thing as a ‘typical’ National Star student. The award-winning college celebrates the diversity of all learners, who bring something vibrant and special to National Star. The college works with young people with a range of complex and multiple learning and physical disabilities. In 2019 it was named ‘Specialist Provider of the Year’ at the TES FE Awards when judges said: ‘They (National Star) are swimming against the tide by sticking to what they do best and doing it better than the rest.’ Parents are full of praise for the Ofsted ‘outstanding’ college too. One parent said: ‘Our daughter Ruth has learned, developed and grown with the collective help and support of National Star, and made more progress than in the previous decade. Queen Alexandra College (QAC) is a national, residential College and charity that supports a diverse range of student abilities and needs.
The College has been at its current location since 1903 and offers support and guidance for young people with visual impairment, autistic spectrum conditions, those with moderate to severe learning difficulties, students with physical and other disabilities.
Class sizes are small and support levels high. Our Curriculum is designed to maximise life chances, develop independence and work skills. Programmes include Preparation for Life (PFL) delivered at Pre-Entry to Entry level and a range of vocational qualifications to level 3. Our Learning, Employment and Progression (LEAP) programme offers a stepping stone for students from PFL into a more work focused environment.
A supported internship study programme, based at our Pinewood Campus, could also be followed which involves spending the majority of time with an employer in a real job role.
The College has a team of specialists who are able to support students, including Speech and Language Therapists, a VI Training Officer, Educational and Clinical Psychologists, Counsellors, Mentors, a Braille Tutor, Occupational Therapy and Sensory Support, a Dyslexia Tutor, Healthcare Professionals including a Physiotherapist, Rehabilitation and Travel Trainers and a RSE Coordinator.
Our residential provision develops essential skills for personal development such as independent living and social skills. We also offer a specialist respite service and supported living options. Royal College Manchester is an independent further education college for young people aged between 19 and 25 years with profound learning and communication disabilities. The college specialises in both multi-sensory impairment and profound autism.
We take a person-centred approach, identifying what motivates each young person, their interests, strengths, and aspirations and use this as a foundation for their learning. We support students to express their views which are then incorporated into planning to allow them to shape their own learning. Some students have clear ideas about what they like to do, others will need help exploring the choices available to them.
All Royal College Manchester teaching staff have achieved additional specialist teaching qualifications or are in the process of studying for them. Specialist teaching qualifications include mandatory teaching qualifications for multi-sensory impairment, visual impairment and hearing impairment. Our pioneering assistive technologists ensure students have access to the latest technology to assist them in daily life and maximise their learning potential. We also offer British Sign Language for those young people who respond best to BSL.
Communication and interaction with others, including social skills are key to learning and our multi-disciplinary team of specialist support staff work together to find the tools and communication style that work most effectively for each child. Our broad and balanced curriculum focuses on physical development, communication, independence and the skills that mean every child can live a more creative, happy and independent life.
With a safe, calm learning environment tailored to their specific needs, students develop and progress to their full potential.
