FREEDOM TO FLOURISH AT WITHAM PROSPECT SCHOOL
A dynamic and nurturing residential school based in Norton Disney on the Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire border.
Witham Prospect School offers specialist care and education for up to 16 residential pupils. It also has places for 8 day pupils aged 11-18. The school works children with complex learning disabilities and those on the autism spectrum.
We have a purpose-built children’s home and educational setting offering specialist care provision. This helps our pupils to maximise their potential through promoting individual growth and independence. Such as developing their educational skills and enhancing their self-esteem.
All of the directors at the school have vast experience in running special educational needs schools. As well as experience of young adult care homes. This knowledge has been used to develop this new school.
We believe that the best trained staff are vital to providing the best care and education possible for our pupils. To demonstrate this we have our own dedicated off-site Training Centre nearby in Newark.
All of our teachers are fully qualified and are supported by qualified teaching assistants. In addition, we draw on specialist therapists, such as;
- Music therapy
- Speech therapy
- Occupational therapy
- Equine therapy
- Psychological input
Our Educational commitment is in line with the Department for Education Guidelines which encompasses the National Curriculum. Our Director of Education, Paul Stevens, has developed a broad and balanced curriculum bespoke to Witham Prospect School. This can be tailored to suit each individual pupil thus ensuring that they can reach their full potential.
Our Care commitment encompasses each pupil’s individual Education Health and Care Plan. Each of our pupils will be assessed prior to arrival and their plan continuously monitored and developed. This continues as we gain increasing knowledge of our pupil and their abilities and as they grow within the school.
Through the review system, parents, family members and other interested parties will be fully consulted in the care planning process. Our Director of Children’s Services, Joanne Stevens, has over 25 years’ experience working to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
Communication on the progress of your child is of paramount importance to us. We have invested in new technology which enables parents and professionals to access information about our pupils using a secure on-line portal. This system also enables access to the latest information across and within the care and education teams and ensures an integrated and consistent approach. We also operate an open policy where anybody with a registered interest in a pupil has direct access to any of the senior management team.
