Sunflowers Care offers a warm, stimulating, homely environment.
They care for up to four children/young people of any gender with complex health care needs/disabilities. Whilst supporting parents and family members.
Sunflowers is led by Lucy Andrews and Karen Higgins who have over 50 years nursing experience between them. They firmly believe that children are ideally cared for at home. But when that can’t happen, a home-from-home environment is the next best option.
Sunflowers Care is a fully adapted four bedroomed home in Cottenham near Cambridge. Where they offer nurse-led care to children aged 0-18 with a variety of complex health needs.
Our care is delivered by a team of nurses, carers and therapists. We are also registered with the Care Quality Commission.
Care is individually planned and we focus on children having fun during their stay. As well as acknowledging each child’s developmental and social needs.
What we offer:
The service Sunflowers offers can be broken down into 3 main categories
- Rehabilitation following illness or injury – Sunflowers offers multi-therapeutic rehabilitation for children and young people requiring this intervention, such as those who have sustained and Acquired Brain Injury. The child/young person’s needs are assessed and recommendations for a bespoke rehabilitation programme are made and subsequently delivered.
- Short Break Care – Sunflowers offer flexible short break care to families, which can also be funded privately, by a personal Health Budget, or by Local Authority or CCG funding.
- Long Term Care – Sunflowers can provide a step down from a hospital environment whilst the home is being adapted, a care team being trained, or funding organised. We can accommodate parents so that they can continue to learn any new skills, and build their confidence in being able to care for their child in a home environment, and be proactive in arranging the discharge home as soon as possible. We can also accommodate Children on a longer term placement should this be required.
