Richardson Care provides specialist residential care for adults with learning disabilities and associated complex needs.
An independent family business with a proven track record of over 30 years, we were founded on the principles of social inclusion, community, dignity and respect.
We have three specialist residential care homes for people with learning disabilities so we can accommodate a range of needs. Care is truly person-centred and the homes offer a caring, family environment where each individual is supported to achieve their potential and lead a happy and meaningful life.
Additionally, our homes are located close to amenities such as cafes, shops and leisure facilities so our residents and staff access these regularly and feel part of the local community. Moreover, our care support workers have the power to deliver the best possible care, arranging activities to suit each individual’s needs and preferences.
Our services include:
- Specialist residential care for adults
- Neuropsychological support
- Managing complex cognitive behavioural needs
- Managing complex physical disabilities
- Access to our multidisciplinary team of therapists
- Neurobehavioural rehabilitation
- Community activities
- Supported home visits
- Long-term residential care
- Home for life
We have experience in managing the transition from school to an adult environment, understanding that it needs to be handled carefully and sensitively, and that everyone’s needs and preferences are different. It can also be a difficult time for the family, so we work closely with you, alongside all the agencies involved. We aim to maintain continuity of therapy, minimising disruption and distress.
Prior to admission, each service user has a detailed assessment so we can develop a personalised care plan on which their care and therapy is based. Wherever possible we also involve family members and existing social networks in the assessment process.
Furthermore, each service user is supported by our multi-disciplinary team of neuro specialists which include a Consultant Psychiatrist, Consultant Psychologist, Assistant Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist. In addition, Care staff are trained to reinforce the work of the therapists on a daily basis. We also aim to reduce reliance on drug therapy by using psychological interventions.
This video was created to celebrate Richardson Care’s 30th anniversary. It aims to show the inclusive, caring and family environment that we strive to achieve in our residential care homes.
Here are some comments from family members of the people in our care:
“The home is friendly and welcoming, the other residents are pleasant and friendly… They know her so well and it is her second family, and when we visit we are welcomed… She gets help and support from all and she is treated with respect and love… I have no problem recommending your services, they are outstanding.”
“He is more alert because of the time and effort the Manager and staff have worked to cut down on the amount of unnecessary drugs he was taking, which enables him to live his life in an enjoyable and contented way of his choosing.”
“He has progressed so much this year, being able to go on holiday and attend social events… He realises he is cared for well and that he is valued within his community… He is like a new man…Your care has enabled him to flourish and grow.”
