We’re Family Voice. Supporting and empowering the parents and carers of children and young people with disabilities.

Peterborough’s Parent Carer Forum: a registered charitable incorporated organisation. We are actively seeking to improve services for children and young people with disabilities or additional needs.

We also run a wider community initiative to support individuals and families to promote integration and acceptance locally. In addition we are a registered short breaks provider. We help enable families with disabled children to access holidays at a reduced cost.

What is our forum vision?

“To ensure parent carers have the services that they need, are informed, can contribute, and are empowered. Helping them to support their child and peers, and can balance their carer role by accessing wider opportunities”.

What do we do?

We work strategically with public bodies to shape service provision for young people with SEND to suit the needs of Peterborough Parent Carers.

We also own two caravans; one at Butlins Skegness, and another at Haven Caister, which we let out to families with disabled children at a hugely reduced rate – visit www.familyvoice.org/caravans to find out more.

We run termly training courses free of charge to parent carers in Peterborough on dealing with challenging behaviour, and navigating health services locally. Visit www.familyvoice.org/training to book.

Where are we based?

We are lucky enough to run Orton Goldhay Community Centre – this is a brilliant base for families to come together and enjoy inclusive events and activities. The centre has a fully equipped kitchen and garden and is a safe space for our local community to enjoy.
