I have worked in social care for 33 years in both children’s and adult services. I have training and experience working with both adults and children who have Learning and Mental Health needs and Autism\, EBD\, Deafblind\, physical support needs and severe challenging behaviour. I find it very helpful to be able to draw upon my broad operational and management experience within my role for Sequence Care Group. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI am the Occupational Therapy Lead for Sequence Care Group. My team and I are here to help carry out activities that service users want to do and/or need to do. We help each person find ways to carry on living the life that they want to and to remain as independent as possible. We support the service users to maintain\, regain and develop their functional level despite difficulties that they may face. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI am the Lead for the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) team and joined in April 2020. I have worked in health & social care for 10 years and began as a support worker for adults with Autism & Learning Disabilities while at University. I studied to become a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) and have since worked in inpatient and community settings to support adults to improve their quality of life\, build new skills and reduce behaviours of concern. My approach to implementing PBS in our services involves a hands on\, practical application to ensure consistent implementation and achieving measurable outcomes. \n\n\n\n\n\nBook now\n\n\n\nRegister for the free webinar below. SUMMARY:Festability
DESCRIPTION:We are a group of parents of disabled children and adults who saw a video shared on the BBC and thought “oh we really need to do that here in Kent”. \n\n\n\nOf course\, this was on a Saturday evening\, and we may have been guilty of having one or two glasses of wine when we thought this.  Isn’t that how all good ideas start though? \n\n\n\nWe were totally overwhelmed by the interest expressed and the offers of support received once we mentioned it to a few people and quickly we decided we had to get this off the ground because the demand was huge. \n\n\n\nSo we are putting on a Music Festival for people with disabilities living in Kent. \n\n\n\nWe aim for it to be as close to other Music Festivals as possible\, but with some additional elements that will help make it more suitable and be fully inclusive to all. \n\n\n\nThis will include a quiet/chill zone with sensory lights and sounds\, a changing places suite\, qualified staff to help assist and a karaoke tent!

SUMMARY:Autism Friendly Day - Monkey World
DESCRIPTION:After the success of the day in March\, Monkey World has planned further Autism Friendly Days! The park has always prided itself on the access facilities available\, from a range of mobility scooters to the primate sensory statues around the park. \n\n\n\nTo help autistic visitors and their families further\, on selected dates\, visitors with autism can access the park at 9am\, an hour before public opening time\, to avoid the rush at the gates. \n\n\n\nAll gates will be open so there will be very little in the way of queueing. Our staff have been briefed and are aware of additional needs. There is no need to pre-book. Normal entrance fees will apply. Please bring appropriate DLA/ PIP documentation to benefit from essential carers free entry. \n\n\n\nThe park will also have a sensory trail especially for the day\, and dedicated chill out spaces. Monkey World is proud to work with the Autism Adventures- Minecraft and Meltdowns group\, who will be supporting the day with sensory play and drop-in support. \n\n\n\nWith this\, and over 260 rescued monkeys and apes\, and 3 play areas\, Monkey World hopes to be a great day out- for all.
