Free tickets for half-term activity alert

Woman in bubble wrap

We know there are a few weeks to go, but the words half-term and free almost never find themselves in the same sentence so My Family, Our Needs couldn’t not let you know about this one.

Art with Heart are offering up to 10 free tickets for local groups to attend their autobiographical theatre production, Declaration, at the Brentwood Theatre in Essex. The production is about Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), mental health and diagnosis in adulthood. The production is taking place on Thursday 1st June at 7.30pm and has an age guidance of 14+. There are only a few up for grabs so you need to be quick!

What’s Declaration about?

Instinctive, curious, bold and bouncy; Sarah is a mighty proud square peg, which wouldn’t be such a problem if the hole wasn’t so round. Sarah grew up feeling different. Her childhood doctor thought it was sugar. Her current doctor thinks it’s ADHD. Sarah still feels different, so will a label do? Will it change the way you see her and the way she sees herself?

Developed in consultation with medical professionals, ADHD and mental health support groups, Declaration examines when we want, need or are forced to declare our differences and the faces we wear to fit in.

Declaration promises to be an entertaining production which is also useful and empowering for those with ADHD. It has also been described as an incredibly useful resource for those who live and work with people with ADHD. Following performer Sarah’s real life journey from childhood to present day, Declaration offers a rare insight into how ADHD can impact at different points throughout someone’s life.

Rory Bremner, comedian and Patron of the ADHD Foundation said of the production,

By bringing the challenges of ADHD to the stage so vividly, Art with Heart are single-handedly widening our understanding of one of the most misunderstood mental health issues out there.

What are you waiting for? We think it sounds great, whether you go with some friends or take your older children as a half-term activity so go and grab your free tickets now! Email hello.artwithheart@gmail.com or sarah@artwithheart.org.uk

If you don’t manage to secure some free tickets, regular tickets are £10 and can be purchased through the Brentwood Theatre website. You can view the access information here.
